| To all units in Area 3 of the Greater St Louis Council.
You can expect to see new people that will now attend your meetings and scouting functions.
For those who do not know, each unit is assigned a person who is called a Unit Commissioner. They are required to visit each unit and report back to the district regarding the health and execution of the Scouting program. Mostly, they may just visit a function that your unit has planned, but they are a resource to consult who can answer questions, they are problem solvers who have the best interest of the scouting program in mind as they help to iron out the bumps in the road of a growing, or not so growing Scout program.
They need to make 6 visits in 2011 in order to meet the requirements for the "Journey to Excellence".
If you see a Unit Commissioner at one of your functions, give them hug!!! |
| The Fun with Son camping weekends have come and gone, but the training the Webelos the received should last as they cross over to a scout troop. The Fun all the Scout received should last a life time. Thank you to Bob and Renee Crews, who selflessly coordinated this events for countless years past.
Welcome to Ray and Amy Groves who are stepping into this position to ensure Scouts in our area will have an incredable experience with Fun with Son in years to come.
The smell of smores over an open fire sometimes takes a week or two to dissipate from the beautiful camping and recreation area in our own back yard known as Pine Ridge. Hope to see you there next year!!!! |

As most of you know, Bryon Haverstick (former District Executive of the
Egyptian District) was recently promoted to Sr. District Executive in the Ozark
Trails Council in Springfield MO. Bryon had rented a house in the Joplin
MO area, near the center of the district he is serving.
Last night, a tornado devastated the Joplin area and as a result not only
the damage but a great deal of causalities. Bryon was in the home when
this storm tore through the area. Bryon is safe but the house was a
loss. Liz left last night and she and Bryon have moved what could be
salvaged to the satellite office in Joplin.
Please keep Bryon and family in your prayers.
