Silver Beaver Awards will be presented at the council's Annual Meeting & Recognition Dinner on June 14.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest award a local council can present to an adult volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America. The award is presented to those volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting program. Nominations are recommended by the local council and approved by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Saundra Flanagan’s energy and drive continues to inspire Scouts and Scouters alike to do their best.
She began her Scouting career as treasurer of Pack 24, chartered to the Marble Hill United Methodist Church. She went on to serve as den leader and pack committee chairman, assistant Scoutmaster, troop treasurer and troop committee chairman.
Saundra served as her district’s Activities chairman for three years. She completed National Day Camp School and started the first Cub Scout Adventure Camp in Marble Hill and continued serving as the director for nine years. She served on the staffs of her district’s training team, Roundtable, Scouting for Food, Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow, Xtreme Scouting 2000, ScoutQuest 100 and University of Scouting.
She completed Wood Badge training and will serve on her fourth course staff this fall. She currently serves as a merit badge counselor and committee member of Troop 210, chartered to the Jackson Elks Lodge  No. 2652.
Outside of Scouting, she is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau where she served on the Cross Training staff for nine years. She also was a member of the Parent-Teacher League and assisted with vacation bible school for five summers.
Saundra received her district’s Award of Merit. Her greatest joy and honor is being the mother of three Eagle Scouts, Joshnua, Ethan and Wyatt.
