Judge Dan Pelikan, (Eagle Scout, Troop 51, 1971), lives the Scout Oath and Law on a daily basis by serving and inspiring the youth of our community as a Juvenile and Criminal Court trial judge and a leader in many civic organizations. His efforts protect the welfare of the people and develop the character of youth throughout our community and nation. He served Troop 351, chartered to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, as an assistant Scoutmaster, committee chairman and advancement chairman. He founded the Eagle Board for the troop and served as its first chairman. He also was associate advisor and advisor for Venture Crew 2351. He led youth on seven high adventure trips and was an assistant Scoutmaster during the 2005 National Jamboree. He completed Wood Badge training and served as a merit badge counselor and skill center instructor for the last 10 years. He served as Boone Trails district advancement chairman and district chairman during a six-year span. He led the boards of the Children’s Trust Fund of Missouri and United Services for the Handicapped in St. Charles County. He also serves on the boards of the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Charles County and the St. Charles Rotary Club. He is a former member of the Missouri Bar Board of Governors. Judge Pelikan manages a busy adult felony criminal docket, and as primary juvenile judge he is directly responsible for the welfare of approximately 275 abused or neglected children in St. Charles County. He is an active member of the Parish Council for St. Cletus Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. He received his district’s Award of Merit and the Bronze Pelican religious Award. The St. Louis Crisis Nursery awarded Judge Pelikan the Guardian Angel Award in 2008 for his advocacy and support for abused and neglected children. He has been married to Lisa Pelikan for 27 years and is the father of two Eagle Scouts, Nick and Jake. He is the recipient of 10 Eagle Scout mentor pins.
