Janet Nelson’s positive attitude and determination has been influencing Scouts and young people for more than 25 years. She was a Tiger Cub leader, den leader and Webelos leader for Pack 661, at Point Elementary School, and a Tiger Cub leader and den leader for Pack 306, at The College School of Webster Groves. She was Cubmaster for Pack 333, at Hancock Elementary School, where she also coordinated the Scouting in the School Day program. As an assistant Scoutmaster and summer camp coordinator for Troop 661, she is currently planning her 20th summer camp. She serves as a unit commissioner and is on the Eagle Board of Review. She was on the staffs of the Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow, the last two council-wide encampments in Forest Park, and many other council and district events. She was a Friends of Scouting trailblazer and crew chief. She serves on Cub Scout Adventure Camp staff and as a Scouting for Food fire station coordinator. She will serve on her fifth National Youth Leadership Training staff this summer. She is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lemay and the Hancock Alumni Association. She organized food drives for The Circle of Safety, a support service for women, and volunteers at the Open-Door Animal Shelter. She coordinated the Science Fair and the 600-Minute Reading Club for Hancock Elementary School for 16 years. She received her district’s Award of Merit and is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow. She is the mother of two Eagle Scouts.
