Silver Beaver Awards will be presented at the council's Annual Meeting & Recognition Dinner on June 14.

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest award a local council can present to an adult volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America. The award is presented to those volunteers who have made outstanding contributions to the Scouting program. Nominations are recommended by the local council and approved by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Throughout the last four decades, Eagle Scout Mike Nebel worked to strengthen and improve the Scouting program and his community.
He served as advancement chairman, committee chairman and assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 458, chartered to Crestwood Elementary School. He helped start Venture Crew 2163 at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mike served his district as a unit commissioner, assistant district commissioner and earned the Distinguished Commissioner Award. He has served as Eagle Board chairman and is currently Eagle Project Review chairman. During Scouting for Food, he was a fire station coordinator. He continues to serve as a merit badge counselor.
Mike is a member of the Memorial Day Good Turn committee, a project where Scouts annually decorate more than 170,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
He is an active member of Concord Trinity UMC. He and his wife, Nancy, have gone on mission trips to repair homes in Cookson, Okla. Mike served as board president at Bethesda Evangelical Church and also served as youth activity chairman. Mike helped bring a youth-led service camp to the Lemay area that helped restore and repair more than 60 homes for disabled and low income residents. The project included raising $30,000 to support the 300 young people who came to the area from around the country.
He has received his district’s Award of Merit. He is also the father of an Eagle Scout.
Mike has been married for 45 years to Nancy and has two children and two grandchildren.
