Mark Lester’s humble and self-deprecating humor allows him to connect with Scouts and leaders. He focuses on helping young people feel accepted and valued as they develop their character and leadership skills. He was Cubmaster of Pack 16, chartered to St. Vincent’s Men’s Association, for five years. He was an assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster of Troop 16, chartered to the Elks Club No. 639, for 12 years. When Troop 4, chartered to the First Presbyterian Church, needed some assistance from a veteran leader, he became an assistant Scoutmaster for the unit. He shared his knowledge of the Scouting program as a course director for the multi-district Basic Adult Leader Training held at Camp Lewallen. He served as district training chairman for three years and completed Wood Badge training. He will serve on his sixth National Youth Leadership Training camp this summer. He also was the district’s popcorn sale chairman and currently serves as a unit commissioner. He is an active member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and coached youth baseball and soccer. He received his district’s Award of Merit and is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow.
