Cross Lifeguard To Be Offered

Course dates: January 5, 12, 19, 20, 26 and February

Session Times: 10 am till 2 pm. on Saturadays.
Sunday the 20th will be noon till 4 pm.

Who: Males & females 15 years old and up, maximum class size of 20
General Info: All supplies for the class will be
provided. Students should bring a notebook, pen, swimming gear, snacks,(for
energy). All students MUST be in
attendance for every session. There are no make up days.
Course: All class and pool times are
estimates and are based on the students grasp of the material.
Jan 5: Introductions and paperwork. Prerequisite Swimming Skills Evaluation. This consists of swimming 300 yards, 100 yds freestyle, 100 yds. Breaststroke, and 100 yds either freestyle or breast stroke. Timed skill. Swim out 20 yds, feet or head first surface dive to about 10 ft., retrieve 10lb brick, swim back the 20 yds with both hand holding the brick out of the water, and get out of the pool without a the use of a ladder. Time must be 1 minute and 40 seconds or less. No goggles allowed. If you do not successfully complete both of these, you will not be able to continue in the class.
Lesson 1: Professional lifeguard and facility safety. Class room 2 hours Pool 45 min.
Jan 12: Lesson 2 , Facility safety, Patron Surveillance, and Injury Prevention
Classroom 90 min. Pool 65 min.
Lesson 3 Injury prevention and rescue skills part 1. Classroom 50 min Pool 90.
Jan 19: Rescue Shills part 2 clasroom 60 min Pool 120 min
Jan 20: Lessons 5 & 6, Before giving care and CPR/AED
Jan 26: Lesson 7 First aid. Classroom 150 min. Pool Skills review 90 min.
Feb 2: Lesson 8, Head Neck and Spinal Injuries. Class 60 min Pool 150 min.
Feb 9: Review and testing, classroom 45 min. Pool till all are tested. 2.5 hours.
