They have been promised great outdoor activities, games and fun and now is their chance to try it all.

The Southern Illinois Minors will be having a scout night on the 20th of June. There will be a baseball game and camping on the field.
There is a Good Scouting Fundraiser Recognition Dinner at Rays in Cape on April 24th at 6pm. No cost, just donations, they are hoping for 3 adults from each troop will attend. The funds will go to the district.
April 4th-6th (could be just the 5th, they were vague on this), Troop 51 in Chaffee will be having a Dutch Oven cooking competition. All Troops are invited, it will be at the Elks Lodge.
BLT will be at Camp Lewallen on the 25th-27th of April. Please signup at the Scout Office.
LOE is at Pine Ridge on May 3rd-4th. Please signup at the Scout Office.
Citizenship in the Nation will be offered July 17th at the Cape Court House from 9am-4pm.
There was a discussion about keeping boys interested while in Cub Scouts and the need for more Troop involvement with the Packs. It was suggested that having a dedicated person with each Troop to liaison with the Packs so they have a familiar face to work with. There was also discussion of the importance of Den Chiefs and how to properly use them with a Den.

It's that time of year again! The Annual District Dinner is happening on Friday, January 25, 2013 at the New McKendree Chapel South, located accross from South Elementary School in Jackson. Social begins at 6:00 p.m. and Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m, followed by awards and recognition.
All registred adult leaders are encouraged and welcome to attend. Mark your calendars now! Cost will be $10 or less per person, stay tuned for actual amount.
This is a great time for recognizing the efforts for all of the Shawnee District Volunteers.
Kettle Beef will be provided as the main course, bring a dish for the ultimate pot luck dinner.
