Scouting for Food, originally organized in the St. Louis area, has grown to become the nation's largest single-day food drive! Over 30,000 Scouts participate annually in our council's food drive, collecting approximately two million items of food for local pantries. Most tell us this food drive alone keeps their shelves stocked for three to four months!
We need your help to ensure we collect as much food as possible for this food drive! Your participation helps teach Scouts about the needs of their communities and they are rewarded when they return to pick up that food and then see it distributed to help those individuals.
Thursday, Oct. 3 (Roundtable) - Pick up maps (also available below) and Scouting for Food bags at Roundtable. During the month of October, review the maps for accuracy and let us know if you are unable to cover the area or would be willing to cover additional areas. We know units' history and how many bags to provide you.
Thursday, Nov. 7 (Roundtable) - Tell us prior to Nov. 7 if you missed your bags or need additional bags and we will bring them. We will not transport them unless they are requested. You can also pick up your bags at the MacArthur Service Center.
Saturday, Nov. 9 - Bag distribution day. Remind Scouts to simply tie bag to door handle; avoid opening doors if possible. Respect "No Trespassing" signs! Stay within your assigned neighborhoods.
Saturday, Nov. 16 - Bag collection day. Remind Scouts to never enter a residence! Cover assigned neighborhoods and look on porches for food. Take food to firehouses immediately. It is very important to drive around neighborhoods a second time in the afternoon looking for bags set out late. We receive a lot of calls where bags were missed. When we miss a house, a caller often feel we have wasted his time and money donating food to us. We will forward the calls when received or send someone to those houses if possible.
Saturday, Nov. 16 - Starting today, SFF patches can be purchased at the Scout Shop at 4568 W. Pine Blvd., St. Louis, 63108. You can also mail in the form and payment (see next date).

*Most Venturing Crews will help sort and load food at the individual firehouses.
