It is with sadness that I announce the passing of a great man and
probaly one of the best Boy Scout leaders I have had the honor of
Carl Schumacher was the Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 181 for
12 years. During his tenure he guided 33 Scouts to the rank of Eagle
Scout. Both of his sons are Eagle Scouts. After stepping down as
Scoutmaster Carl Stayed active with the Troop, Cub Pack and Venturing Crew by
serving as the Unit Commissioner and the Institutional Representative. He
was present at just about everything that the Troop did for over 33
years. He went to summer camp with the troop for 33 years straight.
His work with the hundreds of Scouts that have been members of the Troop will
not be forgotten. He was a mentor to the Scoutmaster that took over for
him and was a dear friend and mentor to me. I could always count on Carl
for advise when I needed it in regards to the Troop.
Carl was a member of
Grace UCC and was always a active member. Carl spent countless housrs volunteering
hours of work for the YMCA bookfair and this year the Bookfair was dedicated to
I thank him for all that he did for the troop but especially
for all that he did in helping to make me a better Scoutmaster. Whenever I
needed advice from Carl he would always start with "In my
experience". Now Carl is in that great camping field in heaven and I can
hear him tell those around him "In my experience."
Yours In Scouting,
Scoutmaster Troop 181
